SEA (Società Elettrica di Favignana) is active in the production, distribution and sale of electricity in the municipality of Favignana, part of the province of Trapani (Italy).
The island started power production in 1925 with just a few thousand kilowatt-hours (kWh), needed to provide power for a few critical users in the small town centre.
Over the course of the years, as a result of the development of the island’s economy and tourism, a number of power generators were installed and by 1968 production hit the milestone of 1 mln kWh.
Today the island of Favignana has 3,500 residents and welcomes about 60,000 visitors each summer season. SEA Favignana, with 3,700 customers, provides electricity to the entire island with production that in 2015 reached 16 mln kWh thanks to its installed generation capacity of 12 MW.
